Join Environmental Initiative and Source Water Protection Collaborative members for a free reception celebrating water-inspired community art created by Little Falls residents and artist-in-residence Su Legatt.

Over the past five months, residents have undertaken a community art project to explore their relationship to and understanding of water. The final pieces will be unveiled and represent a combination of individual experiences and community challenges. Participants whose work was included in a piece will get to take a reproduction home.

Open to all ages! Stop by Great River Arts to celebrate, enjoy snacks and refreshments, and learn more about how community artwork will be shared throughout the city of Little Falls.

Project background

In mid-2020, the Source Water Protection Collaborative formed as a response to statewide listening sessions about safeguarding drinking water. The Minnesota-based collective brings together diverse groups and perspectives, including individuals from state and local government agencies, nonprofits, academia, agriculture, and more to develop projects that address barriers to source water protection.

Members spent a year brainstorming projects to support partnership and trust-building at a local level while expanding local government engagement capacity. Ultimately, the group decided to pilot a one-year project where an artist would work on drinking water engagement within a rural Minnesota community.
