Hi, all! My name is Gillian Greenberg and I am thrilled to be joining Environmental Initiative as a Project Coordinator. In this position, I will be supporting an array of EI projects and I look forward to diving into the work.
I grew up in Denver, CO learning to treasure time in the mountains. While going to Washington University in Saint Louis, I learned that Midwest landscapes also offer a respite from day-to-day life despite their relative lack of elevation change. I began to seriously consider a career in the environmental field as I studied abroad in Bolivia in pursuit of a degree in international development. Witnessing the dramatic effects of climate change in a country that contributes little to the problem convinced me to work on building more sustainable communities in the United States.
I recently moved to Minneapolis from California where I worked on climate and waste reduction programs for the Town of Truckee. After a couple years in a small mountain community, I decided to return to city-living. I am excited to be in a place that still gives me access to skiing and running trails while offering all the resources of urban life.
