Hi all! My name is Christina Vang and I recently joined Environmental Initiative as one of the new Project Coordinators. I am excited to join the team and be part of the mission!
Being outdoors keeps me grounded and reminds me that there is something bigger than me in this world. As a freshman in college, I volunteered with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for a semester and it changed my career path. I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Systems Management. Along with my degree, I graduated with two minors in Sustainability Studies and Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management.
After college, I became a GreenCorps Member through the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and spent about a year with Second Harvest Heartland to focus on reducing food waste. I was able to help them reduce food waste by three percent for their Food Rescue program and jumpstart their research in anerobic digestion. After my year, I joined Tech Dump Electronics Recycling as their Environmental Health and Safety Specialist. There, I focused on compliance and safety for the organization. After a year and a half, I decided I wanted to get out of safety and back to focusing on the environment, which is how I ended up here at Environmental Initiative!
