Our Board of Directors and staff have been hard at work over the summer months revising our organizational identity statements and developing strategic pillars that will guide our work over the next five years.

A crucial part of this process has involved deepening our understanding of how we need to lead, both as individuals and as a white-led, mainstream environmental organization that recognizes all environmental issues need to be addressed in ways that also advance economic, health, and racial equity. You may have read about the launch of this work in early 2020. Looking ahead, we see an imperative for our work to increasingly engage and include individuals in communities who are overburdened by environmental injustice and often excluded from or marginalized in the systems and decisions that affect their lives and health.

We are very grateful to more than 130 people who shared their perspective and advice with us through this planning effort and to our board members for remaining extremely engaged in our fully virtual planning sessions since March.

We look forward to sharing more about what we’ve learned and what we’re aiming toward later this fall. I look forward to hearing from you if you have questions about the process or want to learn more about our future direction. Please contact me by email or call 612-334-3388 ext. 8108.
