Our team was in good company as we shifted to virtual events in 2020. Generous Policy Forum Series sponsors supported our creative efforts which included audio casts, video recordings, supplemental resources, and discussion questions to support our engaging panel discussions. One element consistently identified as missing during 2020 was the opportunity for attendees to connect with each other, panelists, and sponsors.

The 2021 Policy Forum Series remains virtual, however, as an expression of Environmental Initiative’s core values we believe it’s important to support dialogue, learn from each other, and develop a shared understanding of issues affecting our world. This year attendees will join and depart policy forums through the Gather.town platform. Gather.town is used as a tool to facilitate small-group conversations in an environment imagined by the host. Participants can move through Gather.town in a manner similar to walking around a room to meet new people or talk to a collaborator. For those who enjoyed video games in the 1980s, the platform has a similar vibe.

Attendees will join panelists and facilitators on Crowdcast from Gather.town. Crowdcast more closely mirrors a real-time event by highlighting the people presenting. Lots of engagement is possible in the chat. Polls and questions are much easier to use than those in Zoom.

Free to attend and open to all, the policy forums will offer 45-minutes for panel discussion and 30-minutes of networking time. We have tips for you to reference prior to joining the policy forum and encourage you to set up your free accounts before the event. We look forward to having you join us in 2021!

The Policy Forums Series is generously sponsored by Wenck, now a part of Stantec, and Dorsey & Whitney, LLC.
