From all of us here at Environmental Initiative, we hope this message finds you, your organization and your family healthy.

We’ve been monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic closely and taken steps as an organization to prioritize the well-being, health and safety of people before other concerns. As we approach the announcement of our honorees and the 2020 Environmental Initiative Awards event, we want to share some updates.

It is with a heavy heart we share that given the impact of COVID-19, our concern for the health and well-being of our community, plus measures public officials are taking, we are moving the 2020 Environmental Initiative Awards in-person event, originally scheduled for May 20, 2020, to an online celebration.

We continue to be committed to celebrating people and projects working in partnership at the nexus of a healthy environment, a prosperous economy and an equitable society.

We will be launching unique digital content on an interactive website, specifically built for the Environmental Initiative Awards. It will include:

  • The 2020 Environmental Initiative Award honoree announcement
  • A brief video program including remarks from this year’s winners
  • Curated features of honorees and their work

Following the launch of this website, we will highlight each Award winner on our blog into the summer.

Despite these changes and the current global environment, we are excited to celebrate this year’s Environmental Initiative Awards honorees and create opportunities as an organization to foster community among our network in the coming months.

If you have questions or comments about these changes, please do not hesitate to reach out to me, Lillie Benowitz, at

Be well, and we’ll be in touch closer to the launch of our online celebration, so keep an eye out!
