Clean Air Minnesota Northern Minnesota Partner Meeting

Clean Air Minnesota will be returning to Northern Minnesota in October for a unique opportunity. We are excited to partner with Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe to co-host a two-day event to highlight clean air work being done across the state.

At this event, there will be chances for you to hear more about work being done to monitor and improve air quality at the local and state level. We will welcome speakers from the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, the Minnesota Department of Transportation, and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, among others. We will also be providing a number of less structured cultural and social opportunities, to give you a behind-the-scenes glimpse at some of the environmental work being done in Cass Lake.

WHAT TO EXPECT

This event is an opportunity for us to reconnect with our partners in Northern Minnesota as well as share more information about clean air efforts happening across the state. By hosting the event over two days, we hope you will have more time to hear from our presenters, have conversations with other attendees, and build connections across the state. Our hope is that you will be able to join us for a full day of programs on Wednesday, and a half day on Thursday, but we’re happy to accommodate different schedules. For more information on how to join us for part of the event, please contact Jon Emerson-Kramer at 612-334-3388 ext. 8109.

TOPICS

We will be joined by a number of partners to discuss the following topics. This list is not exhaustive, and is subject to change.

  • Equity and the Environment
  • Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and Minnesota Department of Health’s 2019 Life and Breath Report
  • Wood Smoke Survey
  • Neighborhood Air Quality
  • History of the Clean Air Minnesota Relationship with Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe
  • Upcoming Volkswagen Project Opportunities

LODGING

We understand that not all of our partners live near Cass Lake. For those of you who will need to travel to and from this event, there will be a block of hotel rooms available at the Cedar Lake Casino Hotel that will be available on Tuesday and Wednesday night. There are 40 rooms available at the cost of $100 a night.
