We’re excited to honor seven innovative people and projects that are working collaboratively to build holistic solutions to environmental issues at our annual Environmental Initiative Awards celebration. The 2019 Environmental Initiative Awards will take place on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.
Environmental Initiative works across difference with partners to create spaces where people can openly exchange ideas and come to a consensus on challenging issues. Our goal is to create a healthy environment, prosperous economy and equitable society, and we know that’s only possible through partnership. Join us to celebrate the successes of collaborative individuals and creative projects doing the same.

MEET THE EMCEE, ROBYNE ROBINSON
Robyne Robinson is one of the Twin Cities’ best known personalities. An Emmy award-winning news broadcaster, she was the first African-American, prime-time anchor in Minnesota, and the first to be inducted into the Minnesota Broadcasting Hall of Fame. Her unwavering support of communities of color, GLBTQ and women’s issues, and the arts have made an indelible impact on media coverage in the Twin Cities.
After a successful on-camera career, she left the airwaves in 2010 to become only the second African-American candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota.
Robinson established and was curator of flatland (2000–2003), a contemporary art gallery that won critical praise from local and national arts writers for its support of emerging local artists.
She is also the owner of ROX Jewelry Designs, sold throughout the U.S. as well as in Athens and London. Her jewelry is currently sold at museums like the Walker Art Center and the Lewis Museum in Baltimore. ROX has been featured in fashion editorials in Nylon (U.S.) and MOD Magazine (U.K.), national televisions shows and at New York Fashion Week.
