MINNESOTA's clean air dialogueThrough a series of events and a facilitated stakeholder process, leaders from the business, government and nonprofit sectors will identify the challenges Minnesota may face with more stringent air quality standards and strategies to overcome them. BUSINESS & ENVIRONMENT SERIESBringing together business leaders to proactively address environmental issues impacting the business community, we connect people to action and provide tangible takeaways through case studies and small group breakout sessions. Environmental Initiative AwardsEnvironmental Initiative honors and celebrates collaborative environmental projects from across Minnesota through the annual Environmental Initiative Awards program. The call for nominations occurs each February. A panel of independent judges selects finalists in April and winners are announced at an annual dinner celebration each May. Policy Forum SeriesEnvironmental Initiative plans and hosts a series informative half-day sessions on environmental issues for business, government and nonprofit communities. One forum each year previews environmental issues for the legislative session through open conversation with legislative leaders. Other forum topics have addressed water quality, mining, energy efficiency and a range of other issues. Project Green FleetEnvironmental Initiative is reducing harmful emissions from diesel vehicles like school buses, heavy-duty trucks, trains and construction equipment. We recruit fleet partners, coordinate the installation of pollution control equipment and quantify emissions reduced. Over 2,000 vehicles are now running cleaner and greener since the project’s inception. PAST PROJECTSEnvironmental Initiative has worked with diverse partners to find creative solutions to challenges like meeting the state’s energy efficiency goals, improving our air quality, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and more. |
