How did the project partners work together?

Converting to compostable products within the Ballpark was a daunting task that would not have been successful without full engagement and support from all of these partners. Whether it was procurement, distribution, trash sorting, or hauling, everyone had a key element in the process.

How is the project groundbreaking?

Traditional sports concessions create a huge amount of waste. Our voluntary efforts at Target Field are the first of its kind for large scale sports facilities in this region. By converting to compostable items in concessions, it has helped push our waste diversion rate to 79.7%.

What are the project goals?

The main goals for this project were as follows:

  1. increase our waste diversion rate
  2. educate the general public on compostable products and processes
  3. put a long term program in place to help us push toward zero waste
  4. enhance our position as leaders in the industry

What are the project outcomes?

  1. increased our waste diversion rate from 74% in 2014 to 79.7% in 2015.
  2. 2015 organics 644.02 tons
  3. 2015 recycling 546.71 tons
  4. 2015 trash 302.56
