BUSINESS & ENVIRONMENT SERIES:
practicing Product Stewardship: drivers, challenges and strategies

About the Program

Driven by a range of factors, including corporate sustainability commitments, efforts to cut costs, demand from stakeholders and pressures from a host of national and global regulations, businesses are increasingly broadening the focus of their sustainability efforts. Moving beyond internal sustainability initiatives, companies are now working comprehensively to address environmental impacts through their supply chains and product lifecycles.

The success of these efforts requires rigorous data tracking and balancing priorities and multiple requests for information. Effective, efficient collaboration and communication between suppliers and consumers is also critical.

In this session, a team of consultants and experts provided an overview of product stewardship really means, explored the drivers and challenges associated with practicing product stewardship, and offered challenges and strategies for examining and minimizing a product's environmental impacts throughout its life cycle.
